Singer-songwriter Amanda Palmer believes Donald Trump's presidency will spark a renaissance in punk rock and political art, drawing parallels to the creative explosion of Weimar Germany. Speaking at Queensland's Woodford Folk festival, Palmer expressed optimism about art's response to challenging political times.

"Donald Trump is going to make punk rock great again," Palmer declared. "We're all going to crawl down staircases into basements and speakeasies and make amazing satirically political art."

Palmer, who recently received a five-year Australian working visa with her husband Neil Gaiman, expects artists to respond strongly to the political climate. "If the political climate keeps getting uglier, the art will have to answer. We will have to fight. The artists in my tribes have been sharpening our knives for a large buffet."

While celebrating her Australian visa and new baby, Palmer expressed guilt about missing the Women's March in Washington D.C. on January 20th. "I feel like I really should be there with the millions of other women who are going to give the giant finger to the orange man. But I'll do what I can from over here."
