This revival follows a successful 50th anniversary special in October 2023, which drew 6 million viewers - a 54% increase from the 2022 show. The special also became the most-streamed AMAs ever, generating 65 million social media views in its first week.

The 2024 show will feature a special tribute to veterans through performances and celebratory moments. CBS has released promotional footage featuring major artists including Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion, Shakira, Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Olivia Rodrigo.

The AMAs, created by Dick Clark in 1974, previously aired on ABC until 2022. Taylor Swift holds the record for most AMA wins, adding six more awards during the last ceremony hosted by Wayne Brady. The show's move to CBS marks a new chapter in its history, though specific details about the Las Vegas venue and host remain unannounced.

This transition comes during a challenging period for awards shows, with events like the Grammys, Oscars, and Emmys experiencing declining viewership over the past decade. However, the success of the 50th anniversary special suggests potential renewed interest in the format.
