The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued new information requests as part of its ongoing antitrust investigation into Live Nation and Ticketmaster, according to Bloomberg reports. DOJ officials have expressed frustration with Ticketmaster executives' slow response to previous inquiries.

The investigation centers on compliance with the 2010 consent decree, which was established when Live Nation and Ticketmaster merged. This decree, originally set for ten years, was extended by five years in 2019 following allegations of violations. The agreement restricts interactions between Live Nation's tour promotion and venue operations.

While public attention peaked during the 2022 Taylor Swift Eras Tour ticketing debacle, the DOJ investigation predates this incident. Senators have accused Live Nation of "egregiously stonewalling" the investigation into consumer practices, though the company maintains it seeks confidentiality assurances for sensitive information.

The investigation could result in legal action, potentially by the end of 2024. Live Nation continues to deny all allegations of anti-competitive conduct.
