Drake Denies Authenticity of Leaked DMs About Universal Music Group Battle
Drake has denied sending an Instagram DM to celebrity stylist Chris Blake Griffith regarding his ongoing legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG), stating the message is completely fabricated.

The alleged DM, posted by Griffith on Tuesday, contained detailed explanations about Drake's legal actions against UMG, comparing his situation to "Nike funding a campaign about LeBron cheating on his wife." The message also discussed making the music industry "a safer place for every artist moving forward."
Drake's response came through DJ Akademiks, who posted on social media: "This is a fake DM. Drake called buddy a rat... he got mad and made up some fake DM to try to make the blogs and go viral. End of story."
The controversy stems from Drake's two pre-action legal petitions filed against UMG in November. These petitions allege:
- UMG used bots and payola schemes to artificially boost Kendrick Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us"
- The company committed defamation by releasing a track containing allegations of pedophilia against Drake
Legal proceedings include:
- A court hearing postponed from December 20 to January 13 regarding Drake's request to depose UMG and iHeartMedia employees
- A second hearing scheduled for January 16 concerning Drake's filing against UMG and Spotify
