Born in 1911 in Mississippi, Robert Johnson rose from poverty to become one of the most influential musicians in history. Despite facing the harsh realities of being a Black man in the American South, Johnson transformed his experiences into groundbreaking music that would later inspire rock legends like The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Led Zeppelin.

The film, written by Ridgeway Wilson ("Black Girls Rock!"), will address the famous legend of Johnson selling his soul to the Devil for his extraordinary guitar skills, while focusing on his remarkable true story. Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon from Jesse Collins Entertainment, along with Sophia Dilley and Charles Hopkins from Concord, will produce the film.

Johnson's impact on music was profound but tragically brief. He died at age 27, allegedly murdered by a jealous romantic rival. His recordings, which debuted posthumously at Carnegie Hall, earned him induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 as one of the earliest rock stars.

Michael Johnson of the Robert Johnson Estate emphasized his grandfather's legacy: "Robert Johnson's music helped to define the foundational roots of blues and rock n' roll. His story shows how talent can shine through any adversity and is significant to American history."

The partnership between Jesse Collins Entertainment and Concord Originals marks a significant step in bringing Johnson's story to the screen, with both companies expressing enthusiasm about sharing this important piece of American musical history with audiences worldwide.
