Former En Vogue Singer Dawn Robinson Reveals 3-Year Journey Living in Her Car by Choice
Former En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson has revealed she's been living in her car in Malibu for nearly three years, describing it as a transformative experience rather than a hardship.

The journey began in 2020 when Robinson moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. After a living arrangement with her former co-manager fell through and eight months in a hotel, she researched "car life" and made the conscious decision to live in her vehicle.
Robinson maintains a gym membership for shower access and has developed safety protocols as a woman living alone. "That first night was scary," she admitted, "but then I learned what to do in my car and how to do it."
The singer emphasizes this isn't a story of misfortune: "I'm learning about who I am as a person, as a woman." She's currently documenting her experience for a potential Netflix documentary, believing that more people will choose to live "off-grid" due to economic conditions and pandemic impacts.
Robinson, who was with En Vogue from 1989 to 2011, views this lifestyle change as an unexpected but enlightening chapter in her life. "If you would have said to me while I was in En Vogue, 'You're going to be living in your car one day,' I would have been like, 'Huh? No,'" she reflected. "We say that we can't do certain things before we even know we're capable."
Her last engagement with En Vogue was a brief reunion in 2019, though planned tour discussions never materialized. Robinson continues to share her journey through her YouTube channel, emphasizing that her story is not a publicity stunt but a genuine life experience.
