
Grammy-Nominated R&B Legend Angie Stone Tragically Dies in Highway Crash at 63
Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone died in a tragic car crash on Saturday, March 1, at age 63. The accident occurred around 4:25 AM on I-65, approximately five miles south of Montgomery, Alabama.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van carrying Stone flipped over and was struck by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck. While other passengers survived and were taken to Baptist Medical Center, Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stone's longtime manager, Walter Millsap III, confirmed the news after being informed by her daughter Diamond and former The Sequence member Blondy. Her children, Diamond and Michael Archer, released a statement expressing their devastation at the unexpected loss.
Born December 18, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, Stone's musical journey began in church. At 16, she co-founded The Sequence, the first all-female rap group on Sugar Hill Records, known for their hit "Funk You Up." She later joined Vertical Hold before launching a successful solo career.
