Grammy Winner Chappell Roan Dares Music Executive to Match Her $25K Artist Relief Donation
In a bold response to criticism of her Grammy acceptance speech, Chappell Roan has challenged former music executive Jeff Rabhan to match her $25,000 donation to support struggling dropped artists.
The challenge came after Rabhan published an op-ed in The Hollywood Reporter criticizing Roan's Grammy speech, where she called for labels to provide artists with livable wages and healthcare. Roan, who won Best New Artist, used her platform to advocate for better treatment of developing artists in the music industry.

Through Instagram Stories, Roan directly addressed Rabhan: "Mr. Rabhan, I love how you said 'put your money where your mouth is.' Genius! Let's link and build together and see if you can do the same." She promised to share donation receipts and keep fans updated on Rabhan's response.
The controversy has drawn support from other artists, including Halsey, who criticized both Rabhan and The Hollywood Reporter for what she called a "personal attack disguised as critical journalism."
According to SAG-AFTRA national executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, major label artists do have access to health insurance through the National Code of Fair Practice for Sound Recordings. However, many developing artists struggle to meet the income eligibility requirements.
Roan has also used this opportunity to highlight deserving artists who need more exposure, including Sarah Kinsley, Devon Again, hemlocke springs, and Baby Storme.
