Satterthwaite, 31, filed a new lawsuit on November 25, alleging Jay-Z's legal team "acted fraudulently" during previous attempts to establish paternity. The suit names several New Jersey courts and judges, claiming violations of constitutional rights between 2012 and 2023.
According to a sworn affidavit, Satterthwaite's late mother Wanda claimed she had relations with Carter in 1992 when she was 16. After her son's birth in 1993, she sought paternity testing through Pennsylvania courts in 2010. While her former partner Robert Graves was proven not to be the father, Carter's legal team successfully avoided testing through jurisdictional arguments.
The case faced multiple complications:
- Pennsylvania dismissed the case as Satterthwaite was over 18
- New Jersey courts, where parentage can be established until age 23, became the new venue
- Carter's attorneys claimed he had no property in New Jersey, though public records suggested otherwise
- His attorney, Lise Fisher, later admitted to "misspeaking" about Carter's property ownership
Satterthwaite and his guardian, Dr. Lillie Coley, believe Carter's legal team deliberately prevented paternity testing due to Wanda's underage status at the time of conception.
This paternity dispute resurfaces as Jay-Z faces separate allegations in a civil lawsuit claiming sexual assault of a minor in 2000, alongside Sean "Diddy" Combs.
