The revelation came after his wife encouraged him to seek a reevaluation, noting that his symptoms didn't align with typical bipolar disorder characteristics. Following new medical assessments, doctors confirmed he is on the autism spectrum.

West compared his experience to the 1988 film "Rain Man," explaining how autism affects his tendency to hyper-focus on specific things. This trait influences his creative decisions, particularly in music, where he often deliberately opposes fan expectations.
Since receiving the new diagnosis, West has discontinued his bipolar medication. He's now focusing on managing his creativity without medication, stating, "It's finding stuff that doesn't block the creativity, obviously that's what I bring to the world."
The artist, who previously discussed his bipolar diagnosis in interviews and music, says this new understanding helps explain his behavior and thought processes. While some fans support his transparency about mental health, others remain skeptical given his history of controversial statements.
This diagnosis marks a significant shift in West's public narrative about his mental health. While he hasn't specified how this will affect his future work, he continues to be open about his journey, contributing to broader discussions about mental health awareness and understanding.
