Live Nation Seeks to Throw Out Sexual Orientation Bias Case by Former Drag Show Producer
Live Nation is seeking dismissal of a sexual orientation discrimination lawsuit filed by Braden Maurer-Burns, owner of Drag Diva, in New Jersey. The lawsuit stems from Live Nation's alleged termination of their business relationship due to the plaintiff's sexual orientation.

Maurer-Burns' company, Drag Diva, produced drag-related content and shows in partnership with Live Nation, reportedly achieving significant commercial success. The relationship ended when Live Nation terminated the contract, citing "unproven allegations of harassment and misconduct."
The lawsuit alleges two violations of New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination:
- Limiting contracts with LGBT businesses and content makers
- Discriminatory treatment based on sexual orientation
Maurer-Burns seeks various forms of compensation, including:
- Damages and losses
- Emotional harm compensation
- Psychological injury damages
- Reinstatement
- Legal fees and costs
- Punitive damages
Live Nation's motion to dismiss argues that:
- Maurer-Burns was never personally party to a contract with Live Nation
- The lawsuit exceeds the two-year statute of limitations (contract terminated in late 2019)
- There are no specific allegations that Live Nation's decisions were based on sexual orientation
The case has been moved from the Superior Court of New Jersey, Burlington County, to federal court for further proceedings.
