Massive Ticketmaster Data Breach Exposes 560 Million Users' Payment Information
A major security breach has reportedly affected Ticketmaster, with hackers claiming to have accessed personal data from 560 million customers. The hacker group ShinyHunters claims responsibility for obtaining 1.3 terabytes of sensitive customer information.
The compromised data allegedly includes:
- Full customer details (names, addresses, emails, phone numbers)
- Order information
- Partial credit card details (last 4 digits and expiration dates)
- Additional unspecified customer data
Person wearing skull mask and glasses
The hackers are attempting to sell the stolen data for $500,000 through Breach Forums, a platform reportedly owned by ShinyHunters. The group claims to have contacted Ticketmaster regarding the breach, but no response has been received.
This security incident comes at a challenging time for Live Nation (Ticketmaster's parent company), as they currently face:
- A Department of Justice antitrust lawsuit
- A multibillion-dollar class action
- Ongoing scrutiny from federal lawmakers following the Taylor Swift Eras Tour pre-sale issues
The timing is particularly concerning given recent reports of ticket scams, with Lloyds Bank reporting that Taylor Swift fans in the UK lost approximately $1.2 million to fraudulent ticket sales ahead of her June concerts.
