Nelly has been announced as a late addition to perform at Trump's Inaugural Liberty Ball, one of three official inaugural balls scheduled for Monday, January 20. The Grammy-winning rapper, known for hits like "Country Grammar," "Ride Wit Me," and "Hot In Herre," will join other performers including Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Lee Greenwood.

Addressing criticism about his decision, Nelly emphasized that his participation isn't financially motivated but rather about respecting the office of the presidency. The St. Louis native, born on a military base, drew parallels to military service, stating that if service members can serve regardless of who's in office, he can perform regardless of the president.

"I'm not doing this for money. I'm doing this 'cause it's an honor. I respect the office," Nelly explained during a live conversation with rapper Willie D. He added that he would perform for any president, including President Biden or Vice President Harris, if asked.

The inauguration events face an additional challenge as Washington, D.C. braces for an arctic blast, with temperatures expected to drop into the low 20s. In response, Trump has announced that the inauguration ceremony will be moved inside the Capitol building to protect attendees from the freezing conditions.
