Bandcamp CEO Ethan Diamond announced that 100% of the company's share of proceeds from all purchases made this Friday will be donated to the ACLU. Over 400 labels and artists have joined the protest under the hashtag "#NoBanNoWall", including prominent names such as:
- Kill Rock Stars
- Tompkins Square
- Alanna McArdle
- Merge Records
Some participants are making extended commitments:
- Son Lux will donate proceeds from "At War with Walls and Mazes" to the ACLU for four years
- Xiu Xiu will contribute all Bandcamp revenues to the ACLU for the same period
- Other artists are directing funds to organizations like the Nigerian Muslim Association of New York
Diamond emphasized America's immigrant foundation, noting that 98% of U.S. citizens, including himself, descend from immigrants. He stated that the executive order "violates the very spirit and foundation of America" and affirmed Bandcamp's opposition to the ban.
