Omar Kamal has established himself as a prominent figure in Egyptian music over the past decade, particularly in the mahraganat genre, which combines Egyptian rhythms with electronic music and rap lyrics. His breakthrough came with the 2020 hit "Mahragan Bent El Geran," featuring Hassan Shakosh, which garnered over 700 million YouTube views and was named one of Rolling Stone's 50 Best Arabic Pop Songs of the 21st century.

Following his musical success, Kamal has consistently released popular singles, often collaborating with Hassan Shakosh on tracks like "Oud Al batal" and "LGHBTITA." In 2021, he expanded his career into acting with a role in the television series Bayn El-Samaa Wa El-Ard.

"I'm excited to strike this deal with Reservoir and PopArabia, a company built for artists and run by artists," said Kamal. "I know this partnership will be a strong motivation for us to do great work together."

PopArabia Vice President Wissam Khodur highlighted Kamal's unique position in the industry, noting his successful transition into mahraganat music. Reservoir CEO Golnar Khosrowshahi emphasized that this acquisition strengthens their market share in Egypt, which represents the dominant Arabic music market.

The acquisition aligns with Reservoir and PopArabia's strategic growth initiatives in the MENA region, positioning them as significant players in the Arabic music industry.
