The payments came from two companies owned by Plant:

  • Trolcharm Limited (established 1981): £3 million ($3.75 million)
  • Sons of Einion Limited (established 1997): £4 million ($5 million)

Both companies handle different aspects of Plant's music business:

  • Trolcharm Limited focuses on performing arts
  • Sons of Einion Limited manages sound recording and music publishing activities

These substantial payments coincide with several significant developments:

  • The upcoming release of "Becoming Led Zeppelin" documentary in February
  • Recent sale of a 10% stake in Led Zeppelin's catalog by Helen Grant (daughter of former manager Peter Grant)
  • The catalog stake sale reportedly completed last summer for approximately $10.6 million

The timing and size of these dividends provide context to Plant's ongoing success, encompassing both his Led Zeppelin legacy and solo career achievements, including successful albums like "Pictures at Eleven" (1982) and "Now and Zen" (1988).
