Snapchat is rolling out Spotlight, a new feature that will reward top video creators with a share of $1 million daily through 2020. The rewards can go to any user, regardless of account status or following size, making creativity the primary focus.

The platform will use a proprietary algorithm to determine rankings and distribute rewards, which can be given to a single creator or split among multiple users. A new Spotlight tab will appear in the app's lower-right corner for easy access.

This move appears to compete with TikTok's 'Discover' tab, offering similar viral potential for both new and established creators. The timing coincides with Snapchat's recent success, reporting an 18% increase in daily users (249 million) and a 52% revenue jump in Q3 2020.
