IndieKnow, founded in 2021 by Andy Haggerstone, offers musicians comprehensive release planning tools including:
- Release planner with promotional checklists
- Press release writing wizard
- Database of 1,000+ PR & radio contacts
- Educational resources and step-by-step guides
The acquisition includes all IndieKnow's assets but not personnel. Current subscribers will transition to Unhurd's platform, with integration expected in early 2025.
Unhurd CEO Alex Brees described the acquisition as "a natural alignment" that enhances value for subscribers. "IndieKnow is a cornerstone of knowledge and empowerment for artists," said Brees, "and un:hurd has always been about helping artists cut through the noise more effectively."
This expansion follows Unhurd's seven-figure seed round in Q1 2023, joining recent industry developments including:
- SongTools' $3 million funding and SongFly advertising tool launch
- Groover's $8 million Series A funding for global expansion
The acquisition price remains undisclosed, though both parties report satisfaction with the terms. The move strengthens Unhurd's position in providing comprehensive artist services while bridging the knowledge gap in music release preparation.
