
Universal Music New Zealand Announces New Leadership as Adam Holt Steps Down After 24 Years
Universal Music Australia & New Zealand has announced significant leadership changes at Universal Music New Zealand (UMNZ). After 24 years of leadership and 34 years with UMG, Managing Director & Chairman Adam Holt will retire on April 30, 2025.

Myra Hemara and Matt Kidd will take over as Co-Managing Directors effective May 1, 2025, reporting to Sean Warner, President and CEO of Universal Music Australia & New Zealand.
During his tenure, Holt fostered a positive culture at both UMNZ and UMA, earning respect from employees and artists alike. Warner praised Holt's dedication to the company, artists, and the New Zealand music industry.
The new leadership team brings extensive experience to their roles:
Myra Hemara:
- Joined UMNZ in 2006
- Established the label's digital department
- Appointed General Manager in 2017
- Led international artist marketing and audience development teams
Matt Kidd:
- 12 years with UMNZ
- Started in promotions and public relations
- Led domestic repertoire and business development teams
- Focused on global expansion of New Zealand talent since 2017
The transition will be supported by UMNZ Chief Financial Officer & Commercial Director Tony Jenks, forming a strong executive leadership team positioned to drive future success for Universal Music New Zealand.
Both Hemara and Kidd have expressed enthusiasm for their new roles, with plans to build upon Holt's legacy while fostering innovation and artist development in the evolving music industry landscape.
