The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) has launched its official search for a new CEO to succeed Richard Burgess, who will step down in early 2026 after a decade of leadership.

A2IM, representing over 750 member companies in the United States, seeks a visionary leader to oversee both its trade organization and non-profit divisions. The ideal candidate will:
- Lead strategic development and core services
- Demonstrate expertise in copyright matters
- Create effective programming initiatives
- Build strategic industry partnerships
- Ensure a sustainable ecosystem for independent music labels
The new CEO will navigate challenges including:
- Evolving AI technology
- Streaming service compensation changes
- Industry consolidation trends
