The new feature, part of Amazon's "next generation" Alexa+ rollout, enables users to generate complete songs with vocals, lyrics, and instrumentation using simple voice prompts. Users can create personalized songs for special occasions or customize music based on specific themes or characters.

Suno, a leading AI music model provider, is currently involved in legal disputes with major record labels including Sony Music, Universal Music, and Warner Music over copyright infringement allegations. The labels claim Suno used copyrighted materials to train their AI models, which Suno later acknowledged.

Despite legal challenges, Suno has garnered support from industry professionals, with Timbaland and EDM artist 3LAU joining as strategic advisors. However, the partnership raises questions about Amazon's existing relationship with Universal Music, as both companies previously agreed to address concerns about unlawful AI-generated content.

Additional Alexa+ features include:

  • Image generation
  • New voice filters
  • Enhanced smart home controls
  • Uber booking integration
  • Ticketmaster integration for event tickets

The collaboration between Amazon and Suno was reportedly not communicated to Amazon's music industry partners in advance, and the impact of ongoing litigation on Alexa+'s AI music capabilities remains uncertain.

Note: This is a developing story as the integration rolls out and legal matters continue to unfold.
