Dame Dash Reveals R. Kelly Collaboration Led to Split with Jay-Z: "That Was the Nail in the Coffin"
Dame Dash recently opened up about his departure from Roc-A-Fella Records, directly linking it to Jay-Z's collaboration with R. Kelly. During an interview with 'The Art of Dialogue,' Dash expressed his deep concerns about the partnership.

The issue stemmed from R. Kelly's controversial marriage to Aaliyah, Dash's former girlfriend, when she was 15 years old. Dash confronted Jay-Z about working with R. Kelly, stating, "I was like 'yo how you gonna do a project with a n-gga that raped my motherfucking girl?'"
According to Dash, Jay-Z's response was dismissive, claiming he "ain't have nothing to do with that." This collaboration ultimately became the breaking point for Dash, who voluntarily left Roc-A-Fella Records despite the financial implications.
Recent developments reveal that Dash's share in Jay-Z's album "Reasonable Doubt" was sold at auction for $1 million. The proceeds will go toward settling his $8.7 million tax debt, an $800,000 lawsuit settlement, and $145,000 in unpaid child support.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z faces his own legal challenges, defending himself against allegations of assault at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards event, which he strongly denies.
