Sean "Diddy" Combs' attorney Anthony Ricco has filed a motion to withdraw from the mogul's defense team in his criminal sex-trafficking and racketeering case, stating "Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs."

The withdrawal request, filed on February 20, requires judicial approval before becoming official. While Ricco did not specify his reasons for stepping down, he indicated the request's brevity was to protect attorney-client privilege. The decision came after consultation with Combs' lead counsel, Marc Agnifilo.

Ricco assured the court his departure would not delay the May 5 trial date, as Combs retains five other attorneys on his defense team.

Key Case Details:

  • Combs (54) has pleaded not guilty to charges of drugging women and forcing them into sex work
  • He remains in custody without bail since his September arrest following federal raids
  • If convicted, he faces 15 years to life in prison
  • Approximately 40 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and drugging remain active against him
  • A recent Jane Doe case against Combs and Jay-Z was withdrawn
  • Combs and his legal team continue to deny all allegations

The criminal case continues to develop as Combs faces both federal charges and numerous civil lawsuits, with his legal team maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings.
