Unlike the original film, Lin-Manuel Miranda is not involved in the sequel's music. Instead, the new creative team brings their unique expertise to continue the musical legacy that garnered over 20 billion streams worldwide from the first film.
The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on November 29, with Walt Disney Records releasing a Deluxe Soundtrack on November 25. This special edition includes the complete score, instrumental versions, and ATMOS mixes.
A new behind-the-scenes featurette accompanies the soundtrack release, featuring:
- Recording studio footage
- Interviews with Auli'i Cravalho (Moana) and Dwayne Johnson (Maui)
- Insights from directors Jason Hand, Dana Ledoux Miller, and David G. Derrick Jr.
- Commentary from composers Barlow & Bear, Opetaia Foa'i, and Mark Mancina
While plot details and the identity of the film's villain remain under wraps, fans can now stream the soundtrack on all major platforms, getting an early taste of Moana's next adventure across Oceania.
