Starting May 1, developers can access Lil Wayne's "Uproar" and "GO DJ," along with CG5's tracks "I See A Dreamer," "Sleep Well," "Let Me In," and "Dancin'" through the HEAT platform. This marketplace connects animators, game developers, and 3D artists with motion data and music resources.
The partnership focuses on providing seamless emote licensing for gaming projects, similar to Fortnite's character feature packs that have included artists like Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, and Travis Scott.
Alvaro Galbete-Velilla, SVP of New Business at UMG, emphasizes how this initiative allows UMG labels and artists to distribute tracks directly into gaming development tools, enhancing fan engagement and creating viral gaming experiences.
HEAT CEO John Stavas highlights the collaboration's potential to unlock new creative and commercial opportunities for artists across both AAA games and indie 3D creators.
To celebrate the partnership, UMG is hosting events at San Francisco's Monarch Club during GDC, featuring a closing DJ set by Virgin Music Group artist SOFI TUKKER.
