The settlement between Drake and iHeartMedia was confirmed in a recent court filing, with attorneys stating they reached "an amicable resolution." Specific terms of the settlement remain confidential.
Drake's lawsuit against UMG, filed in federal New York City court, alleges the company made false accusations of pedophilia through Lamar's track. The lawsuit specifically accuses UMG of engaging in "irregular and inappropriate business practices" to promote the song, which Drake claims contains defamatory content about him.
Key points of Drake's ongoing UMG lawsuit:
- Filed in January in New York City federal court
- Claims UMG knowingly promoted defamatory content
- Focuses on allegations made in "Not Like Us"
- Does not name Kendrick Lamar as a defendant
The dispute gained additional attention when Lamar performed "Not Like Us" at the Super Bowl halftime show, albeit with censored lyrics. Despite Drake's legal team's warnings about intensified litigation, the performance became the most-watched halftime show in history.
The feud between Drake and Lamar represents one of hip-hop's most significant rivalries in recent years, with both artists signed to UMG. A hearing on UMG's motion to dismiss Drake's petition was recently scheduled in San Antonio.
