The lawsuit centers around Kendrick Lamar's song "Not Like Us," which Drake claims has led fans to believe false allegations about him. Drake's team is seeking extensive documentation related to the song's promotion and contracts, while UMG is attempting to halt discovery pending their dismissal motion.

Both parties have stated that "settlement discussions would not be productive at this time." Drake's attorneys maintain that meaningful negotiations can only proceed after UMG provides the requested documentation about "Not Like Us."

Key upcoming events:

  • Pre-trial conference: Wednesday, April 2nd
  • Drake's deadline to file amended complaint: April 16th
  • Kendrick Lamar and SZA's Grand National Tour begins shortly after

The discovery requests extend beyond the song itself, including details about Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show performance that occurred after the original lawsuit was filed.
