In the video titled "I got fired thank God," Doechii displays remarkable resilience, casually eating chips while sharing her plans to visit recording studios for internship opportunities. "I have nothing to lose. I have no place, I have no job, I have no children. Who gives a f—k?" she states confidently.
Her determination paid off significantly. Following the video, Doechii self-funded and released her debut EP "Oh The Places You'll Go" that same year. She went on to release two more EPs in 2021 and 2022 before signing with Top Dawg Entertainment.
2024 marked a pivotal year in her career with the release of "Alligator Bites Never Heal," which earned her the Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2025. She also received a nomination for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance for her track "Nissan Altima."
During her Grammy acceptance speech, Doechii delivered an inspiring message to her audience: "I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there that are watching me right now, and I want to tell you: You can do it. Anything is possible."
Her Grammy performance featured her hit songs "Catfish" and "Denial is a River," cementing her position as one of hip-hop's most promising new artists.
