Boston-based Hearby has launched 'Ask Hearby,' an AI-powered chatbot specifically designed for live event discovery, aiming to solve the persistent problem of concert discovery and boost attendance across venues of all sizes.

The platform addresses a significant gap in the live music market, where approximately two-thirds of events occur in smaller venues and often go undiscovered by potential attendees. While major artists like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift dominate headlines, countless smaller shows remain hidden from music fans.

Using Large Language Model (LLM) AI technology combined with anthropological expertise, Ask Hearby aims to simulate and surpass the experience of getting recommendations from a knowledgeable friend. The platform has been in development for over five years, focusing on accurate matching between user intent and available performances.

Initial testing shows promising results, successfully identifying various venue types, including jazz clubs and restaurants featuring live music. While some minor misclassifications exist, the system is designed to learn and improve over time through user interactions.

Future developments will include:

  • Personalized show recommendations based on search history
  • Social media sharing capabilities
  • Expanded coverage across UK cities and towns
  • North American market expansion planned for 2025

This innovation differs from existing concert-related AI systems like Satisfi, which primarily focus on post-purchase support. Ask Hearby instead targets the crucial discovery phase, helping users find relevant live music events before making ticket purchases.

The platform's ultimate goal is to democratize concert discovery, making both major shows and local performances equally accessible to music fans, regardless of venue size or artist popularity.
