The Italian Federation Against Musical and Multimedia Piracy (FPM) has successfully blocked six major stream ripping sites in Italy through collaboration with the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority (AGCOM).

The blocked sites, which received approximately 3 million monthly visits from Italy alone, include prominent YTMP3 branded platforms such as ytmp3.nu, lumieremusic.net, ytmp3.im, projectspark.ca, downmp3.yt, y2meta.app, x2mate.com, and yt5.io.
Stream ripping, accounting for 30% of music piracy in Italy, has grown by 10% in early 2024, reaching 10 million monthly accesses. Italian courts declared the practice illegal in 2019, empowering AGCOM to take decisive action against copyright violations.
"The technological efforts of our team meet the application of the AGCOM Regulation whose results have a clear impact on illegal access to music in Italy," stated Luca Vespignani, General Secretary of FPM and CEO of DcP.
Recent EU piracy trends show:
- Overall digital piracy increased by 3.3% in 2022
- Streaming accounts for 58% of piracy, while downloads represent 32%
- Content distribution: TV (48%), publications (28%), films (11%), software (7%), music (6%)
- Live sports piracy surged 30% between 2021-2022

The action represents a significant step in combating digital piracy, particularly in the music streaming sector, where illegal access continues to challenge the industry's legitimate distribution channels.
