The lawsuit, filed four months ago, was voluntarily dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. The plaintiff had claimed she was lured by a limousine driver outside the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards and subsequently assaulted at an afterparty.
Key inconsistencies in the case included:
- Investigators couldn't locate the described property where the alleged assault occurred
- The plaintiff claimed Benji Madden was present, but he was touring in the Midwest at the time
- The described location ("large white house with a gated U-shaped driveway") couldn't be verified
Jay-Z vehemently denied the accusations, calling them "frivolous, fictitious, and appalling." Through Roc Nation, he expressed concern about the trauma inflicted on his family and emphasized the importance of protecting both victims and those falsely accused.
Diddy, who faces separate legal challenges including federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, maintains his innocence. His legal team stated this dismissal would be "the first of many that will not hold up in a court of law" and emphasized that Combs has never engaged in sexual assault or trafficking.
Diddy currently awaits trial in New York City, with proceedings scheduled to begin in May, on separate federal charges.
