Kendrick Lamar Drops Surprise Album 'GNX' Before Super Bowl LIX Performance

The album follows Lamar's recent diss track "Not Like Us," which broke multiple streaming records in May 2024. While GNX includes apparent references to his ongoing feud with Drake in songs like "Reincarnated," "Heart Pt. 6," and the title track, the album explores broader themes beyond rap rivalries.
Notable mentions include a reference to Lil Wayne in the opening track, with lyrics acknowledging the New Orleans rapper's absence from the Super Bowl halftime show lineup: "Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down."
The album has received positive early feedback, with major platforms like Spotify and Apple Music actively promoting the release. Industry experts anticipate increased streaming numbers following Lamar's Super Bowl performance in February, following the pattern of previous halftime show performers.
While physical editions of GNX are not yet available, Interscope Records continues to offer merchandise including a $100 Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers hoodie and vinyl package.
