Drake's legal team reportedly attempted to prevent the performance of "Not Like Us" at the Super Bowl, according to sources close to the situation. The track is currently at the center of Drake's billion-dollar defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), which he claims orchestrated a scheme to promote the diss track and damage his reputation.
UMG has dismissed Drake's allegations as "ridiculous," while fans and critics have criticized the Toronto rapper's decision to pursue legal action. Despite the controversy, Lamar appears unmoved by the pressure, as he isn't directly named in the lawsuit.
In related news, Lamar has partnered with designer Willy Chavarria for a limited-edition Super Bowl merchandise collection. The collaboration builds on their existing relationship, as Lamar has previously worn Chavarria's designs during his Big Steppers Tour. The collection will be available for purchase starting Wednesday, January 29, ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl performance.
The NFL's promotion of the halftime show featuring "Not Like Us" suggests both the league and Lamar are standing firm against the legal pressure, prioritizing artistic expression and fan expectations over potential legal ramifications.
