LA Wildfires Force Over 50 UMG Employees From Their Homes as Pacific Palisades Burns
Over 50 Universal Music Group (UMG) employees have been displaced by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, with many losing their homes entirely. UMG Chairman Lucian Grainge, a Pacific Palisades resident for over 15 years, has cancelled his European business meetings to remain in Los Angeles and coordinate support efforts.

In a letter to employees, Grainge announced that he's working with key executives including Jody Gerson, Eric Hutcherson, John Janick, Monte Lipman, Boyd Muir, and Will Tanous to organize assistance for affected staff members.
The wildfires' impact extends far beyond UMG, with:
- 24 confirmed deaths
- Dozens still missing
- 92,000 people under evacuation orders
- 89,000 additional people under evacuation warnings
- Approximately 60 square miles burned across the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires
Cal Fire has advised the entire region from Ventura to San Diego to prepare for possible evacuation orders as the situation continues to develop. UMG's operational base in Santa Monica is partially under evacuation orders.
"We are strong, we will continue to be brave, and as always, we will march on together!" Grainge emphasized in his message to employees, acknowledging the company's commitment to supporting affected staff while maintaining business operations for their artists and songwriters worldwide.
