LiAngelo Ball has reportedly secured a $13 million deal with Def Jam/Universal Music Group following the viral success of his track "Tweaker." The 26-year-old basketball player, also known as G3 or G3 Gelo, released the song in early January, garnering millions of streams across YouTube, Spotify, and other platforms.

According to ESPN and confirmed by BeatStars, the deal includes an $8 million guarantee through Ball's Born2Ball Music Group label. What makes this success story particularly interesting is Ball's creative process - he used BeatStars to license the beat (produced by Glockie Cheez and KUNICA) and recorded his vocals using Voloco, a mobile DAW, directly from his phone.

BeatStars later clarified that the beat was initially discovered on Voloco through their partnership and catalog integration. Ball's friend found the beat while browsing Voloco and shared it with him.

The success of "Tweaker" demonstrates how professional-quality music can now be created without traditional studio equipment. This development is particularly significant given the rise of AI-generated music, as it shows how platforms like BeatStars can facilitate authentic human creativity while ensuring proper compensation for musicians.

BeatStars founder and CEO Abe Batshon emphasized this point, stating, "This is the future of music creation. With the right tools, artists like LiAngelo Ball are breaking down barriers and proving that creativity has no limits." The platform has reportedly paid out over $350 million to its creator community.
