Notable nominations include Chubby Checker, whose hits "The Twist" and "Let's Twist Again" helped shape early rock and roll, and Mariah Carey, who has achieved 19 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits. The list features two sets of previously estranged brothers: Oasis's Gallagher brothers and The Black Crowes' Robinson brothers.

Selection criteria include:

  • Artist's impact on other musicians
  • Career longevity and body of work
  • Innovation and technical excellence
  • First commercial recording must be at least 25 years old

The final inductees will be chosen by over 1,200 voters, including artists, industry professionals, and historians. Winners will be announced in late April, with the induction ceremony taking place in Los Angeles this fall. Additional inductees will be named in three committee categories: musical influence, musical excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.

For reference, the 2024 class included Mary J. Blige, Cher, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band, and Peter Frampton.
