The collaborative brings together:

  • WBGO 88.8 FM (Newark Public Radio)
  • WQXR 105.9 FM (New York Public Radio)
  • WFUV 90.7 FM (Fordham University Public Radio)
  • WSHU 91.1 FM (Sacred Heart University Public Radio)

This historic partnership aims to:

  • Create shared content
  • Expand audience reach
  • Generate new revenue streams
  • Develop innovative broadcasting initiatives

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has provided funding to develop a comprehensive five-year business model, which will serve as a template for similar collaborations nationwide. Public Media Company will guide the strategic direction, while Paragon will conduct digital audits and membership analysis for each station.

WBGO President & CEO Steven A. Williams highlights the collaboration's significance: "This project leverages our geographical proximity and exceptional influence as four of America's most influential broadcasters, benefiting public radio listeners in the nation's largest media market."

The initiative represents the culmination of over a decade of informal discussions among New York area music stations, now formalized through CPB's support. Each station will maintain its unique identity while working together to strengthen their collective impact on public broadcasting.

LaFontaine E. Oliver, President & CEO of New York Public Radio, emphasizes their commitment to making classical music accessible to everyone through this collaborative effort, demonstrating the unique value these stations bring to their communities.
