PPL Q4 2024 Distribution Hits $58M, Expands to Azerbaijan and Guatemala Markets
PPL has announced its Q4 2024 distribution of £45.3 million ($57.5 million), showing a slight 7% decrease from the record-breaking Q4 2023 payout. The distribution reached over 137,000 performers and rightsholders through contributions from 69 international CMOs - an increase from 63 CMOs in the previous year.
Notable developments include:
- First-time payments from Azerbaijan (RAYS) and Guatemala
- Significant contributions from France, Netherlands, Sweden, U.S., and Portugal
- Over 9,400 members received their first-ever payment
- A £2.3 million ($2.9 million) Annual Supplementary Remuneration Fund payment

PPL CEO Peter Leathem emphasized the organization's strong performance in its 90th year, highlighting their expanding global network of CMO partners and commitment to supporting emerging music careers.
The announcement comes as PPL joins the newly formed "Creative Rights in AI Coalition," which advocates for:
- A mutually beneficial licensing market
- Transparency in AI training
- Sustainable growth and innovation in the AI space
This development is particularly relevant given recent U.K. government proposals regarding AI training with copyrighted works, which has faced industry criticism.
