Recording Academy and MusiCares Launch $1 Million Fire Relief Fund for Los Angeles Music Community

The Recording Academy and MusiCares have pledged $1 million to launch the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, supporting music professionals affected by the devastating wildfires in the LA area.

Over 2,000 homes have been destroyed in the Palisades and Eaton fires, including numerous recording studios and equipment belonging to music industry professionals. Many musicians and independent contractors have lost both their homes and workplaces.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares, emphasizes the industry's commitment to supporting its community during this crisis. Laura Segura, executive director of MusiCares, confirms their dedication to providing both immediate and long-term assistance to displaced music professionals.

Eligibility Requirements for Financial Aid:

  • Five years minimum employment history in the music industry
  • OR six commercially released recordings/videos/singles
  • Open to producers, live crew, tour bus drivers, managers, agents, A&R, makeup artists, costume designers, music video creatives, technicians, and other music industry professionals
