The four-time Grammy winner revealed that even after a decade in the spotlight, she still finds fame challenging to navigate. "I don't really know what is happening. I don't know what the hell is going on," she admitted, contrasting her experience with that of her peers who seem more naturally adapted to public life.
Coming from a suburban background with regular schooling and odd jobs, SZA (born Solana Imani Rowe) emphasizes that her rise to fame wasn't something she deliberately pursued. "I just made a couple songs, and I was grateful that they were liked, and then I kept going," she explained, pushing back against the common assumption that artists fully understand what they're signing up for when entering the industry.
Despite her complicated feelings about fame, SZA's career continues to flourish. Her latest release, SOS Deluxe: Lana, dropped on December 20, following the remarkable success of SOS, which dominated the Billboard 200 chart for multiple weeks. The album recently reclaimed the No. 1 spot after 22 months, boosted by the deluxe reissue.
Looking ahead, the artist has expressed interest in exploring new creative territories, including plans to produce two children's albums, demonstrating her commitment to artistic growth despite the challenges of fame.
