TikTok's Global Business Solutions Head Blake Chandlee has announced his departure from the company, revealed through an internal memo to staff. This exit comes shortly after Global Head of Music Ole Obermann left for Apple Music last month, adding to a series of high-profile departures.

Chandlee, who has overseen marketing and ad sales since 2019, will step down on April 1 but maintain an advisory role. Will Liu, current head of the global monetization production team, will take over leadership of the combined department.

The memo cited the need to streamline operations between global business solutions (GBS) and global monetization product technology (GMPT) as the reason for the restructuring. Chandlee wrote, "As our offerings become more technical and our client product solutions become more sophisticated, it is important that GBS and GMPT operate increasingly hand-in-hand."

Recent notable departures from TikTok include:

  • Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music
  • Sameer Singh, Head of Ad Sales, North America
  • Jack Bamberger, US General Manager of Agency Business

These changes coincide with TikTok facing a critical deadline on April 5, when a divest-or-ban law requires ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, to sell its US operations to an American company. While multiple parties have expressed interest, ByteDance and the Chinese government have shown resistance to a sale. The Trump administration maintains that negotiations for a sale are ongoing.
