Warner Bros. Discovery Partners With Cutting Edge in Landmark Music Catalog Joint Venture
Warner Bros. Discovery and Cutting Edge Group have formed a joint venture to co-own and manage WBD's extensive catalog of film and TV music, which includes over 400,000 compositions and song cues from iconic productions like Game of Thrones, various comic-book films, and The Shawshank Redemption.

Under the agreement, Warner Bros. Discovery will maintain creative and operational control of the music rights, while Cutting Edge will participate in joint management. The catalog will continue to be administered by Universal Music Publishing Group and Sony Music Publishing.
The partnership aims to maximize revenue potential and distribution of the intellectual property. Germany's DWS Group is co-investing in the transaction, though specific financial terms remain undisclosed.
Cutting Edge founder and CEO Philip Moross, whose company holds stakes in over 1,000 films and 45,000 tracks, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "This truly is an iconic assembly of catalogs created over almost a century by one of Hollywood's original studios. This special partnership is the culmination of many years work and a strong endorsement of our early conviction and specialist expertise in this area of the market."
This deal follows earlier reports of WBD exploring options to monetize its music library, ultimately choosing a joint venture structure rather than an outright sale.
