Blackpink's Rosé Exits KOMCA as Solo Career Soars, YG Plus Stock Surges
Blackpink's Rosé has officially withdrawn her music from the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) as of January 2025, following an application submitted in October 2024. This makes her only the second artist to leave KOMCA, following Seo Tai-ji's departure in 2003.

The decision comes amid Rosé's growing international success, particularly with her English-language releases. Her recent Bruno Mars collaboration "APT." has accumulated 1.24 billion Spotify streams in just over four months. Currently, Rosé boasts 63.88 million monthly Spotify listeners, significantly outperforming Blackpink's 16.41 million monthly listeners.
The move appears strategically timed, as KOMCA reportedly takes six months to a year to process U.S. payments. While Rosé maintains her position with YG Entertainment as part of Blackpink, she has a separate solo agreement with Warner Music's Atlantic.
Other Blackpink members are also finding solo success:
- Jennie: 42.47 million monthly Spotify listeners
- Lisa: 23.25 million monthly Spotify listeners
- Jisoo: 7.87 million monthly Spotify listeners
The news has positively impacted YG Entertainment's market performance:
- YG Entertainment stock (KOSDAQ: 122870) up 44.5% over the past year
- YG Plus subsidiary (KRX: 037270) saw a 36% increase following the KOMCA announcement
Blackpink is set to begin their comeback tour in Seoul on July 5th, marking the group's continued collective success alongside their individual achievements.
