Bob Dylan has publicly endorsed Timothée Chalamet's portrayal of him in the upcoming biopic "A Complete Unknown," sharing his approval on social media for the first time.

The legendary musician expressed confidence in Chalamet's acting abilities, stating: "Timmy's a brilliant actor so I'm sure he's going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me." Dylan also recommended fans read Elijah Wald's book "Dylan Goes Electric," which inspired the film.

The film chronicles Dylan's early years in New York's Greenwich Village folk scene during the 1960s, culminating in his historic electric guitar performance of "Like a Rolling Stone" at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

Director James Mangold collaborated closely with Dylan during production, receiving notes on the script. The cast includes:

  • Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez
  • Edward Norton as Pete Seeger
  • Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash
  • Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie
  • Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo (a fictional character based on Suze Rotolo)

Chalamet responded to Dylan's endorsement with gratitude, stating simply: "Floored. I am so grateful. Thank you Bob."

"A Complete Unknown," written by Mangold and Jay Cocks and based on Wald's 2015 book, is set to release on December 25.
