The immersive concert experience features three iconic songs: "Whiplash," "One," and "Enter Sandman." Apple captured the performances using 14 immersive video cameras on a custom stage layout, combining stabilized cameras, cable-suspended cameras, and remote-controlled dolly systems.

The companion EP, "M72 World Tour: Mexico City," will be available exclusively on Apple Music with spatial audio support. Lars Ulrich, Metallica's drummer, described the Vision Pro experience as "game-changing" during a SXSW conversation with Apple Music's Zane Lowe.

Apple marketing executive Tor Myhren emphasized that the experience puts viewers "front row, backstage, and even on stage with one of the biggest bands of all time." The release coincides with other Vision Pro content initiatives, including the upcoming "Bono: Stories of Surrender" documentary, set to premiere on May 30th as the first feature-length film in Apple Immersive Video.

The Vision Pro headset, priced at $3,500, showcases Apple's commitment to immersive entertainment experiences, following recent releases like Synth Riders' "Current Waves" music pack and an exclusive Kendrick Lamar experience.

These performances were recorded during Metallica's sold-out shows at the 65,000-capacity stadium, which concluded the M72 World Tour's 2024 leg. The band is scheduled to resume touring next month.
