
Songwriter Fund Reopens Applications After Successfully Distributing $400,000 in Relief Aid
The Songwriter Fund is reopening applications for its third round of financial support after successfully distributing $400,000 in one-time relief payments to songwriters. The fund, backed by SONA and Sony Music Publishing, will begin accepting new applications on April 28th.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S.-based songwriter
- 18 years or older
- Minimum 2 years of professional songwriting experience
- At least 2 years membership in a performing rights organization (PRO)
Grant Details:
- One-time payment of $1,000
- Must be used for critical expenses (food, housing, medical bills)
- Requires documentation including ID, PRO membership proof, and songwriting credits

The Songwriter Fund is one of only two funds specifically supporting songwriters during the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside PRS for Music's Emergency Relief Fund. This initiative joins other industry support efforts, including Van Morrison's Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund, which distributed its second round of aid in February 2021.
