Ticketmaster and major Irish venues have issued an urgent warning about a Dublin-based ticket scam that has defrauded fans of significant amounts of money through fake ticket sales.

The scammer operates by offering non-existent advance or last-minute tickets to popular events. Ticketmaster emphasizes that legitimate tickets are only available through their official website, not third-party sellers.

Law enforcement and venue security are implementing enhanced ticket verification measures for upcoming events. The warning comes from a coalition including Ticketmaster, 3Arena, Aviva Stadium, Croke Park, FAI, IRFU, MCD Productions, and Festival Republic.

One major target appears to be Oasis' reunion tour, with concerts scheduled at Dublin's Croke Park on August 16 and 17. Similar scams have emerged in Scotland, where police are investigating fraudulent Oasis ticket sales through hacked Facebook accounts.

Scottish authorities warn victims not to contact compromised account holders directly but instead report incidents to police. Oasis is scheduled to perform at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12.

Consumer law expert Gurpreet Chholar advises against purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers, noting that buyer protections are significantly reduced in such transactions.
