Diddy has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against two individuals who he claims made false statements about alleged sexual assault videos. The lawsuit targets Courtney Burgess and attorney Ariel Mitchell, along with NewsNation.

The lawsuit alleges that Burgess, a self-proclaimed music industry veteran, falsely claimed to possess videos of Diddy sexually assaulting inebriated celebrities and minors. These videos were allegedly obtained from Kim Porter, Diddy's deceased ex-partner. Porter's family has denied knowing Burgess, and a memoir he attempted to sell on Amazon was pulled after being denounced as fake.

Mitchell, who previously filed lawsuits against various celebrities including Diddy himself, allegedly repeated these claims in media appearances and in Peacock's "The Making of a Bad Boy" documentary. The lawsuit claims she demanded extensive accommodations for interviews, including first-class travel and hotel stays.

The complaint specifically states that:

  • The alleged videos do not exist
  • The defendants made false statements for profit
  • NewsNation failed to fact-check before broadcasting these claims
  • These statements have potentially prejudiced future jurors for Diddy's upcoming May trial on sex trafficking charges

Diddy argues that these allegations have not only damaged his reputation but have also compromised his right to a fair trial on the government's charges against him. The lawsuit seeks $50 million in damages and names NewsNation as a defendant for broadcasting these claims without proper verification.
