The acquisition includes significant works such as:

  • Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and "Time in a Bottle"
  • Captain & Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together"
  • Zapp's "More Bounce to the Ounce"

Through various samples, the catalog also features interests in recordings by prominent hip-hop artists including:

  • 2Pac (sampling Ronnie Hudson's "West Coast Poplock" in "California Love")
  • Ne-Yo
  • Kanye West
  • Drake
  • Eminem
  • Snoop Dogg
  • Ice Cube
  • Rick Ross

The deal represents Reservoir's continued focus on hip-hop acquisitions, following recent publishing agreements with Snoop Dogg, Death Row, and 2Pac collaborator Big D Evans.

Stephen Moelis, former president of music publishing at Lastrada, called the sale "the natural next step" for the company founded by his family 40 years ago. Reservoir's chief operating officer Rell Lafargue committed to preserving the Moelis family's legacy while ensuring the catalog's continued success.

This acquisition joins other significant music IP transactions in recent years, including Warner Music's DWA and Extravaganza catalog purchases, and Sony Music's reported $600 million investment in 50% of Michael Jackson's catalog. With billions already allocated for song rights, the industry anticipates continued IP acquisitions throughout 2025.
