Snoop Dogg has experienced a significant social media exodus, losing over 500,000 Instagram followers and approximately 20,000 X (formerly Twitter) followers following his performance at the Trump inauguration's Crypto Ball event.

Addressing the backlash on Instagram Live, Snoop maintained his stance, stating, "Y'all can't hate enough on me. I love too much… Still a black man, still 100 percent black."

The rapper's apparent shift in stance toward Trump may be attributed to the former president's pardon of Death Row Records co-founder Michael "Harry O" Harris, whom Snoop actively advocated for. Harris had been serving a 25-year-to-life sentence for drug trafficking and attempted murder.

In a recent Sunday Times interview, Snoop acknowledged Trump's positive impact on his life, specifically citing Harris's pardon: "Donald Trump? He ain't done nothing wrong to me. [...] He has done only great things for me."

Other celebrities facing similar backlash include:

  • Kim Kardashian: Lost nearly 150,000 followers after posting about Melania Trump's inauguration outfit
  • DJ 3LAU: Defended his Starlight Ball performance as "an honor"
  • Jewel: Issued an apology after performing at Robert F. Kennedy's HHS secretary nomination event

The controversy highlights the ongoing tension between artists' professional decisions and their followers' political expectations, particularly in relation to Trump administration-associated events.
